CIXTRA-Bot

CIXTRA-Bot is the automated fetcher of CIXTRA, operated by SUPERFREY FlexCo. This page explains what it does and how you can stop it.

Who we are

CIXTRA-Bot is operated by SUPERFREY FlexCo, Liniengasse 2a, Top 4a, 1060 Vienna, Austria. It identifies itself in every request with this user agent:

CIXTRA-Bot/1.0 (+https://cixtra.ai/bot; cixtra@superfrey.com)

What it fetches

CIXTRA-Bot requests public web pages and images of cultural venues and event organisers:

  • Event and programme pages, to keep event information correct and current.
  • Press and media pages, to read the terms under which press images may be used.
  • Press images, to link to them when the page permits it. We link to originals and do not copy them into our own archive. For visitors, such images are passed through our image relay, which holds them only in memory and reuses them for at most one hour (less if your server's Cache-Control says so, and not at all for no-store) before checking with your server again, so that visitors never contact your server.
  • From time to time, the same pages and images again, to check that they are still available and still published for this use.

How it behaves

  • It reads robots.txt first and follows it. It also respects TDMRep (/.well-known/tdmrep.json and the tdm-reservation header or meta tag), /ai.txt, and the noai, noml and noimageai directives in X-Robots-Tag headers and meta tags.
  • It uses plain GET requests, sends no cookies, does not log in, and does not try to get around blocks, hotlink protection or rate limits. A block (for example 403 or 429) is treated as a no.
  • Rate: the link checker makes at most one request at a time per host, at least two seconds apart (more if your robots.txt sets a Crawl-delay), with a daily cap per host; on 429 or 503 it backs off and honours Retry-After. The image relay fetches an image only when a visitor requests one it does not hold in memory, makes at most one request at a time per host, at least one second apart, and does not retry a failed fetch for one minute.
  • It uses conditional requests (ETag, If-Modified-Since) where possible to avoid transferring unchanged files.

How to opt out

Any of these stops CIXTRA-Bot for your site:

  • robots.txt: add the following to the robots.txt of your site.User-agent: CIXTRA-Bot Disallow: /
  • TDMRep or noai: publish a TDM reservation (/.well-known/tdmrep.json or the tdm-reservation header) or set noai or noimageai in X-Robots-Tag or a robots meta tag. We treat these as a reservation of your rights.
  • E-mail: write to cixtra@superfrey.com with the domain or URLs concerned. We act on opt-outs without undue delay. cixtra@superfrey.com

Takedown and complaints

If an image of yours is shown in a CIXTRA channel and you want it removed, or if the bot causes problems on your server, write to cixtra@superfrey.com with the URL. Once a takedown is recorded, the image is no longer delivered and is removed from the relay cache. You can also block the bot by IP or user agent; we do not try to get around that.

Privacy

How we handle personal data, including image delivery and link checking, is described in our privacy policy.
